HOW TO GET THE BEST SLEEP IN YOUR NEW APARTMENT

Sleep is one of the best things in the world, not to mention one of the most important. Getting proper, consistent sleep can help with stress levels, exercise routines, and even weight loss. Plus, if you go too long without sleep, it can be really bad for your health.

In a new apartment, it can be challenging to get a great night’s sleep in such a foreign environment. It takes time to get used to your new home. However, there are steps you can take to immediately improve your sleep.

Stay Active

If you like to exercise, you probably already know that getting great sleep leads to better workouts, reduced soreness, and improved results. Experts recommend between 7-9 hours of sleep, especially for those with even moderate exercise routines.

Luckily, staying active in any sort of way also leads to better sleep, creating a self-fulfilling cycle. If you’re getting routine exercise, even by simply taking a 2-4 mile walk in the morning or evening, your body will be much more inclined to naturally falling asleep, and you’ll find yourself ready to go to bed when it’s time.

Reduce Light

Everyone is different; some people enjoy waking up to the natural light of the sun entering their bedroom, while others prefer a cavernous dark room, allowing them to wake up at their own pace. No matter which way you like to rise, darkness is excellent for sleep throughout the night and when sleeping in after a late night.

Human beings naturally need darkness to sleep well, which makes a lot of sense. The first step to take if you’re having trouble with light is to keep your blinds closed as well as putting up dark curtains – even of the blackout variety if you want to take it to the next level. This prevents outside light from entering the room, but what about interior light? With technology on the rise, it’s also crucial to make sure there aren’t a bunch of small but powerful LEDs keeping you up in your bedroom, so cover them with sticky notes or binder reinforcement stickers.
(pro-tip: if you don’t want to go to the trouble of installing curtains, an eye mask can often do the trick.)

Reduce Noise

If the first pillar of human sleep is darkness, the second is silence, or something like it. For many, total silence is actually a deterrent of slumber, so the real goal should be to reduce random sounds throughout the room and area.

In an apartment, if you’re trying to go to bed early or sleep in, noise can be an issue, even in the most well-built places, simply because other people are always moving around, and they’re unpredictable. One of the best ways to alleviate this problem is with the purchase of a white noise machine, which can drown out extraneous sounds and create a consistent base of noise throughout your bedroom. If you don’t feel like buying some sort of machine, most smart phones offer cheap and even free apps that do similar things read more...

10 QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN LOOKING FOR AN APARTMENT

Even in the best of situations, moving is inherently stressful. There are simply too many factors to consider for it to not be at least somewhat complicated. Searching for a new place is one of the most important elements, and it can be hard to know if you’re getting the right place for the right price.
Like any purchase, there are many questions you should ask before committing, but with an apartment, it’s even more vital to know what you want and what matters to you, as it’s the place you’ll come home to every single day. To help, we’ve created our top ten questions you should be ready to find the answers to along your apartment hunting journey.

1. How Do I Pay Rent?

This question comes with other questions under one umbrella. You should aim to find out not only how to pay rent, but what happens if you miss the due date. What are the late fees like? Does your complex take a check, or do they require a credit card or bank account info?
Furthermore, many apartments have certain fees that come with moving in, so you’ll want to make sure that you know about these before signing on the dotted line. Be polite but confident when discussing this with your leasing agent, and don’t be afraid write everything down to compare notes when you get home.

2. What is the Apartment Guest Policy?

We get it; you have a busy life! With as many family, friends, loved ones, etc. as you know, it’s important that wherever you move in is comfortable with visitors. Even if you’re more of a hermit, it’s a good idea to find out the guest policy.
If you’ve got people from out of town coming to visit or stay with you, or you foresee that situation in advance, be sure and learn what the apartment’s policy on guests is like. Obviously you aren’t typically allowed to have someone live with you full-time without their name on the lease, but where is the balance between a full-time guest and someone coming to hang out on the weekends? Find out before you move in read more...

GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR STORAGE UNIT WITH THESE FIVE TIPS

A self storage unit is a great option for anyone with belongings they need to keep safe during a move, temporary relocation, or just wants to protect extra stuff. But as easy as that might seem, not all units are the same, and neither are all facilities.
With varying degrees of quality come varying degrees of security, space, and other amenities and features. Before you decide on one, you should be aware of factors that can help improve your overall experience. Here are five of the most important ways to get the most out of your self storage unit.

Choose Carefully

The best way to have a satisfactory self storage unit experience is to choose your facility with a lot of care. Even if you aren’t storing anything particularly valuable, you’re just going to have a better time storing belongings somewhere you can trust.
You’ll want to look for a facility with strong security measures in place such as cameras, keypads (with individual codes, so ownership knows who is there), and even on-site security guards working around the clock. While not all facilities utilize all of these measures, it’s important you know which ones are in place. Even if they do have all of these, you should also check to make sure their equipment is updated.
Once you’ve learned all the security features, it’s time to check other features which can come in handy depending on what you’re storing. For example, some facilities require you to bring your own locks, and others don’t. Some facilities have climate control, while others are outdoors. You should make sure you know what you need for your items before moving in. Finally, it’s a good idea to find 2-4 facilities you like and check their pricing and reviews online before signing on the dotted line.

Know Your Priorities

Depending on what you need to store in your unit, your priorities might be different. If cost is your highest priority, that’s completely okay. However, choosing the first budget option that comes your way carries risk, as many self storage facilities cut costs by using cheaper materials (and not remodeling and/or updating their buildings) as well as using less/cheaper security.
Not every place is out to rip you off, but they may care less about protecting your belongings the lower the price is. If your priority is the security and safety of your items, it’s good to know this before you start so the price doesn’t make you think twice. Like any transaction and especially ones concerning rental property, what you get is what you pay for, so make sure you know how much you’re willing to spend before moving in read more...

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO DO BEFORE RENTING A SELF-STORAGE UNIT

There are a lot of great reasons to rent a self storage unit, from temporarily keeping items safe during a summer break or big move to needing a long-term place to keep your things after you downsize or declutter your home.
If it’s your first time renting a unit, it can be easy to assume all self storage is the same, and while most companies share certain key similarities, there are certain things to look out for as you get into the renting process. Before you get started, be sure to read our checklist of the best things to do before signing your self storage contract!

1. Figure Out How Much Space You Need

The first step in choosing a self storage unit is determining how much room your valuables are going to require. This might not seem like a huge deal, but there are a wide range of size options and if you don’t need the space, it can save you money.
On the other hand, if you need a lot of storage, you need to make sure the company you’re considering has options for you. If you’re going to be storing furniture like tables, chairs or even couches, you’ll probably want to measure those items before visiting your storage unit so you can be absolutely certain it makes sense for you.

2. Is Your Stuff Temperature Sensitive?

Many self storage units have virtually no climate control in their units, which is often not a big deal. However, this can affect your items if you have anything you want to store that is sensitive to cold, heat, or humidity. To make sure your stuff will be okay, you can ask not just about climate control but also consider an indoor facility.

3. Understand the Security Options

Before moving your valuable possessions into a storage facility, it’s important to know as much as you can about the facility, and that especially includes the security. In most cases, you will be required to bring your own lock and the facility will not claim responsibility for anyone breaking it. But the self storage company should have other security in place, like guards, cameras, and individual key codes so they know who enters. Find out more before you commit read more...

10 QUESTIONS TO ASK A SELF STORAGE FACILITY BEFORE RENTING A UNIT

There are a number of great reasons to rent a self-storage unit, especially if you live in a Norman apartment. Whether you live with roommates you don’t yet know too well or you simply don’t have enough room, a self-storage unit is a great way to keep your valuables close and protected at the same time.

However, just like when you’re moving into a new apartment, there are a number of questions you should ask yourself as well as the manager of the facility to ensure your belongings are truly as safe as possible. Here are ten important things to consider before loading up your new self-storage unit.

What are the rates before and after my move-in?

Whether you live in a metropolitan area like OKC or a college town such as Norman, you’ve likely seen advertisements for storage units that are only one dollar for your first month or some variation of this deal. In principle, this is great, but when you actually speak with a sales representative or manager, make sure to ask specifically what you’ll be paying.

While the first month’s rent might cost only one dollar, there are often additional fees that pop up once you’re starting your rental process. Instead of waiting for surprise costs, just ask how much you can be expected to pay. If they are reluctant to name solid numbers, it could be a good indicator this is the wrong place to leave your stuff.

Is the security system up to date?

The safety of your belongings should not only be your biggest concern in searching for a self-storage unit, it should also be the top priority of the owner and operator of the facility. Ask the manager for details on what measures are in place – from actual guards to cameras, motion sensors and keypads – and how recently they were updated.

Obviously, you want to make sure your valuables are protected, but an up-to-date security system and protocol also displays a genuine desire by the facility owner to take good care of your things read more…

Don’t Make These 10 Self Storage Mistakes

Storage units are an easy and affordable way to clear the clutter but keep the belongings you care about or might want in the future. Storage units are great for events like moving into or out of a Norman apartment or finding a place to store your clunky Christmas decorations.

However, there are some expensive mistakes renters might make when they are choosing a unit to store their possessions.
Mistake #1: Selecting the Wrong Storage Unit Size
The biggest difference in price between one unit and another is most often the size, which might motivate some people to choose a smaller unit than what they really need in an effort to save a few dollars every month. However, if you have to stack your unit from floor to ceiling with boxes, then access to your belongings will be harder.

Got kids? 7 Creative Ways to Store Toys in Edmond Apartments

Keeping children's toys picked up and organized seems like an uphill battle. Apartment space can be limited and with the risk of damaging walls, options are few. With the right tips, tools, and tricks, you can make clean up time simple and tidy.

1. Start with Organizing and Decluttering

The first step in creating a nice space for your children to play is to get rid of toys they aren't interested in anymore and organizing the ones they play with the most. Not only does this make it easier for your kids to find the toys they want to play with, but it makes clean up easier too.
In order to maintain organization and limit clutter, give your kids a clean up box. When they are picking up toys and don't know where one is supposed to go, tell them to put them in the box so you can show them where it goes when they’re finished. This idea also helps if the kids are in a hurry to clean up. All the toys left out can go in the crate for them to put away at a later time.

Pro tip: You can also store some toys in a tote elsewhere, and change them out periodically making them feel like their toys are always “new.”

Renter-Friendly Ways to Transform Kitchens in OKC Apartments

Finally, you’ve settled into your perfect OKC apartment. However, making it feel like home can be challenging because on one hand you can’t make permanent changes to the space and on the other, you don’t want the apartment to feel cookie cutter.
The kitchen is often the most frequented room in the home by both you and your guests, and you want friends and family to feel invited and comfortable. To help, we’ve outlined some damage-free ways to transform your kitchen space into a place you’re proud to call home all while not risking losing your deposit.
Stick with a Theme
Always start a kitchen transformation with a theme. Following a pattern or a certain color scheme will make your kitchen transformation clean and tasteful.
Your theme can be based on objects or certain colors. Take some of your favorite existing decorations and base a theme from there. If you have a preferred color, try to think of objects and appliances which can be replaced to incorporate your desired result.
Use Adhesive Hooks
One of the more practical tools when aiming for a way to hang decorations without damaging your walls is the use of adhesive hooks.
A wide variety of brands are available which vary in size, color and purpose depending on your specific needs. Some brands offer adhesive pads which can be easily removed and replaced by using the same hook.

Sleeping in Style: 5 Affordable Headboard Ideas for Tulsa Apartments

A great headboard can transform the look and feel of your bedroom. As the focal point, it has the ability to change the tone of a space almost immediately. While you’ll shop various styles at a furniture company, you also have the option of experimenting with a little DIY.
It’s time to break out your creative flair! You turn your headboard into a conversation piece with old shutters, upholstered panels or tile. Whether you’re looking to elevate your room, make it cozier or incorporate splashes of color, here are six headboard ideas perfect for Tulsa apartments.

1. Built-In Shelving

This bedroom may appear minimalist at first glance, but the headboard is anything but simple. The designer used three wood panels to draw in the eye and create depth. The shelves serve as nightstands while serving as a display to vases and other art pieces.

2. Dressing Screen

There’s something stately yet mysterious about vintage dressing screens. You can find them at antique markets and stores like Wayfair or Target. Whether it’s custom made or purchased, a dressing screen (also known as an indoor room divider) is a unique way to transform the look of your bedroom.
In this particular shot, the designer uses a wooden screen with an eye-catching metallic finish to add dimension and texture to the neutral palette of the bedding.

How to Create Office Space in OKC Apartments

In OKC apartments, you might not have the luxury of having a separate room as an office. Limited space is already heightened when there are multiple residents. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t carve out an area for a desk.
A little creativity (and a lot of elbow grease) goes a long way. Whether you’re trying to squeeze in a drafting table or creating a full-blown study, here are some tips for creating a stylish office space in OKC apartments.
Mapping Your Canvas
First, there are three steps to creating a home office space in OKC apartments:
Step 1: Open up some square footage.
Step 2: Identify an unused area of your home.
Step 3: Shop for a small desk (multi-purpose, if possible).

Sometimes, rearranging the furniture in a living room or bedroom can give you the square footage you need for an office. To create an open flow, try placing your sofa or other large furniture along the longest wall. Then, arrange your desk directly in front of the window. This creates a larger center space, preventing any feelings of crowdedness.
Filling Your Space
Next is the second part of the design process. Evaluate your space, assessing its pros and cons. Then, identify the proper size and type of desk you’ll be using. This is where that creative thinking comes into play. Look for unassuming areas of your home that aren’t being utilized. Then, choose one of these desk options to construct a stylish (yet practical) office setup.

How to Find an Apartment Near Tulsa Union Schools

Tulsa Union is a public school district located in southeast Tulsa and northwest Broken Arrow. The eighth largest district in Oklahoma, Tulsa Union has approximately 16,000 students pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The district is known for its dynamic academic programs, remarkable facilities and various community partnerships.

Because of this, families are flocking to the area, seeking out a home or apartment near Tulsa Union schools. In today’s blog, we’ll be highlighting two of our apartment communities that are located nearby and sharing some other benefits you might not have known about these properties.

Cascades at Southern Hills

1818 E. 71st Street

Cascades at Southern Hills is located in the Tulsa Hills area near the Riverside and Brookside districts. In addition to Tulsa Union schools, this property is minutes away from Creek Turnpike and ORU (which is fantastic if you have any commuters in the family).

One of our favorite things about Cascades at Southern Hills is its suburban charm. It can feel overwhelming living in Tulsa with all the traffic and construction. However, even though the property is minutes from the turnpike, it’s nestled in a comfortable neighborhood – striking that perfect balance of small-town and city living.

As far as community features go, Cascades at Southern Hills fits the bill. Not only is it gated (which is a huge bonus for safety) but it also features athletic courts, a 24-hour fitness center, sparkling swimming pool and dog park. And, because of its location, you can quickly access bus routes during school months or nearby river parks during summer.

Coventry Park

8120 E. 63rd Place

If you have older kids, you may consider checking out Coventry Park instead. It’s located in the Tulsa Union School District, but just minutes away from Riverside Drive and the Woodland Hills Mall. It provides quick access to Creek Turnpike (similar to Cascades) but is overall a slightly busier area.

Coventry Park holds no shortage of amenities either. This property offers covered parking, high-speed internet access and on-site maintenance in addition to its fitness center, pet park and swimming pool.

Coventry Park units range from 500 to 835 square feet. As you walk in, the hardwood flooring and renovated interiors immediately steal your attention. And, as a pet-friendly community, you’ll have every opportunity to mix and mingle outdoors with your fellow neighbors.

It Takes a Village

Regardless of the property you choose, the most important aspect to remember while shopping for an apartment near Tulsa Union schools is that it feels like home. Moving multiple times is stressful – not to mention, expensive. Take time in your decision and reach out to us with any questions you have.
If you’d like a personal tour of one (or both) of these properties, we encourage you to reach out to our leasing team! We’d love the opportunity to show you around.

There isn’t a shortage of apartment options in the Oklahoma City Metro. It’s a bustling area with plenty to do, and if you find yourself in the area for college, work or just a new place to live, here are the best apartments in OKC.

Come visit Quail Run and Quail Ridge apartments. You will be surprised at the space offered, and the stunning recent renovations we’ve made.

Lake Hefner

Maybe the hustle and bustle of life on the town isn't exactly your forte.  You get enough of it when you go to work, so you just want to come home and relax.  If you do want to go out, it's on your terms.

It can be nice to have the freedom to breathe easy outside and not feel the pressures of the town around you. That's why we have options near Lake Hefner.

Come and jog around the many parks that line the lake.  Dining and shopping options are a short drive away, but you may want to stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Stonebrook is the place to live for the quieter lifestyle in a busy town. It’s situated in a neighborhood across from the lake, offering serenity every time you come home. With several floor plan options, we think you’ll love the location.

2nd Street Near University of Central Oklahoma

On the northern end of Oklahoma City is the wonderful town of Edmond.  It’s a short drive to Midtown, and it has easy access to major highways.

It has small town flair and big town names. Restaurants and shopping centers offer you a robust list of entertainment options.

With some of the best schools in the state, Edmond has a lot going for it. It’s a perfect area to raise a family or attend college at UCO.

We have options for you in the center of it all just off 2nd Street, which is the main road through Edmond. It’s far enough away from the highway, but close enough that gets you to anywhere you want to go in a flash.

Take a tour of Kickingbird and Kickingbird Hills, and you’ll find spacious floor plans and affordable rent that fit any budget.

Belle Isle

Don't be near the action, be a part of it. There are plenty of options that get you close to the city, and that’s fine for some people. But the best part of living in a city is the culture and the feel of the people that inhabit it. Seeing it from afar just doesn't quite cut it.

La Villa is the perfect center point for everything to do in Oklahoma City.  It is a few minutes away from downtown OKC, and a short drive to Lake Hefner for a relaxing evening.  With floor plan options ranging from 1 bed, 1 bath to 3 bed, 2 baths, you have plenty of space to grow and explore.

 University of Oklahoma College Town

If we say, “Boomer,” you say “Sooner”!  Norman is a true college town with a lot of pride. It’s only about a 30-minute commute to OKC, so while it’s out of the city limits, you can still enjoy being close to town.

Norman has an adorable downtown with delicious dining experiences and some of the best shops around. If you are coming to school, there is no other place to move. You will want to stay nearby.

The Landing on 9 offers easy access to the University of Oklahoma from the south with direct access to Highway 9. Alameda Pointe puts you near the heart of downtown Norman within walking distance of restaurants and shops.

West Norman

West of I-35, Norman gets a little quieter.  Don't let that fool you though, there is still plenty to do.  With Sooner Mall right around the corner, Parkway Plaza Shopping Center, and almost any dining experience you can hope for, you won’t run out of places to visit on your day off.
Situated on Main Street, you get direct access to the interstate which pipes directly into Oklahoma City.  There are few better places to be in Norman.
Savannah Ridge offers up to 2 bed and 2 baths on the west side of Norman.  Savannah Square and Savannah Harbor are right across the street from Sooner Mall and offer up to 3-bedroom floor plans.
We hope this helps you make a decision for your next big move. If you’re visiting the metro to visit your potential new home, we’d love to answer any of your questions and help you find a place to stay. Call us at any of our OKC Metro locations, and we’ll be happy to schedule a private tour!

Aside from your current lease or living situation, finding a good deal starts with timing. For example, if you’re searching for an apartment in a town with lots of college students, waiting until September can allow you to secure a better rate. This is because apartment communities are pushed to fill vacancies. And because it’s often slower in spring and autumn, the demand is down so you’ll encounter more price-drops.

The Best Places to Start Your Apartment Search

To find the best deal on apartments in Oklahoma, you’ll need to start searching online. Sites like rent.com and apartments.com are great for side-by-side comparisons. However, they may not include all the pricing details so it’s best to reach out to the complex itself once you’ve narrowed down your choices. Another place to look is individual property management sites. The most important thing is to be persistent and checking listings on a regular basis.

Another thing to do when searching for apartments is taking your search to friends and family. Let them know you’re looking for a place. Sometimes you’ll find out about a developing community before it’s on the market. Other times, you’re able to gain good leads or even a roommate!

Assess the Rental Market

Once you’ve narrowed your search and found a couple places you’re interested in, do a comparison search to identify if the rent is competitive with the rest of the market in that area. Sites like hotpads.com and rentometer.com are great resources that analyze how a complex’s rent compares with others nearby.

Practice Flexibility

If you’re not in a rush, you might consider a smaller, less costly floor plan with the same number of bedrooms. Or, if your heart is set on a city-central apartment and you can’t afford the rent, expand your search to the surrounding neighborhoods. You’ll often find that nearby apartments provide similar if not identical features with better rates.

Ask About Incentives

When speaking with a leasing agent or touring an apartment, ask if they offer any incentives for new resident (or renewals). For example, most places will offer you a lower price if you sign a 12-month lease versus a 6-month. Some apartments also waive application fees or offer bonuses for referring a friend to the complex.

Weigh the Amenities

Having troubles deciding between two properties? Bring your focus to the amenities each one offers. For example, one may cost less but the other offers free wi-fi and a 24-hour gym. Determine the potential cost of the amenities and take them into consideration when making your final decision. One may offer you short-term savings while the other may be more affordable in the long-term.
You may be feeling all sorts of pressure to sign the dotted line. But, going into the conversation with research and market comparisons gives you more negotiation power when it comes to price. And, keep in mind; rent is always something you do until you buy a home. The more time and effort you put into any apartment search, the happier you (and your wallet) will be.

A Student Living Guide to Affordable Apartments in Norman

Students want to find the most affordable housing possible. Can we blame them? With tuition, facility fees and books, things can get expensive really quickly. Most colleges and universities require freshmen to live on campus. But, by the end of that first year, many find themselves searching for cheaper living arrangements elsewhere.

In addition to cost, other common reasons students choose to venture off campus include noise, limited space, strict rules, non-negotiable meal plans and roommate problems. Sigh no more, though. In this quick guide, we’ll show you where to find affordable apartments in Norman and help you prepare for any expenses during the transition.

Where to Find Affordable Apartments in Norman

With resources like Apartments.com, Zillow and Trulia at your fingertips, you can explore just about any area and its living options. You’ll first narrow your search by geographic location, budget and number of bedrooms.

However, finding the right apartment goes beyond the price tag. Sometimes the cheapest apartments don’t offer the best quality, while the most expensive apartments might be limited in space.
To help jumpstart your hunt, Northstar has five apartment communities in Norman that strike the perfect balance of quality and affordability. Each is strategically placed in an area of Norman that makes commuting easy for its residents.

For example, if you have a tight schedule but would love to run home in-between classes, Alameda Pointe is only eight minutes away from campus. Or, if you only have school 2-3 days out of the week and prefer quiet places to study, The Landing on 9 is a great option.

Another aspect you want to consider during your search is amenities. The majority of our apartments feature saltwater swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds and more. Click here to explore what each of our five Norman properties has to offer.

8 Expenses to Consider With Apartments

Once you’ve narrowed your choices down to 2-3 apartments, it’s time to start scheduling tours. As you speak with leasing managers and begin learning more about the properties, you’ll want to take your other living expenses into consideration when weighing the total cost.
Here are some additional expenses to think about:

1. Deposit

Landlords and leasing companies usually require a deposit in the case of potential damage to the apartment. During your tour, ask if the deposit is refundable and inquire about the factors that typically cause residents to lose it.

2. Renter’s Insurance

Some leasing companies require renter’s insurance while others don’t. Ask the leasing agent if it’s required and if they offer a resident discount. Typically, this will cost anywhere between $5 to $10 extra a month depending on the policy. If the apartment doesn’t require renter’s insurance, don’t shrug it off just yet. Depending on your belongings and how valuable they are, it might be wise to insure them just in case.

3. Washer and Dryer

The majority of apartments won’t come with washers and dryers in the unit. However, some do and others might have laundry facilities on premise. Ask the leasing agent if they have them in the apartments, and if not, if they have their own laundry facilities

4. Pets

If you have a pet, there will most likely be an extra deposit or monthly fee to let them stay in the apartment. Ask if pets are allowed, what the added cost would be, and if the apartment has special areas for pets to run around and play.

5. Uncovered Utilities

During your tour, ask if any utilities are included in the rent amount such as trash/sewer, water, gas, electric, cable or other services. If they are, score!

6. Subleasing

If you find yourself in the situation where you need to move, it’s good to know your apartment’s protocol. Ask the agent what the rules and costs are for breaking the lease, how it would affect your rental history and if they would allow you to sublease to another student.

Ready to Start Apartment Hunting?

Rent and utilities will often equal 30 to 50 percent of your monthly income. As a whole, aim for 30 percent but remember that safety trumps affordability. Financial aid can cover some of these costs, but not all of them. If you plan to live off-campus, you can’t afford to overlook any possibilities to save on housing.

Having a roommate or two can help cut the cost of rent, utilities, internet and food significantly. It can also boost your credit standing or lack of references when applying for apartments.

To keep yourself from being financially stressed, use a budgeting app like Mint to track how you’re spending your income. Identify your reoccurring expenses, arrange by priority and sync up due dates with your phone. Being proactive is the best way to make adjustments along the way and save more money in the long-term.
