New Addition at Kickingbird Apartments: A Contemporary Spin on Timeless Design

New Addition at Kickingbird Apartments: A Contemporary Spin on Timeless Design

Located in the heart of Edmond, Kickingbird Apartments have been constructing an addition since early 2016. The new properties include everything from a contemporary aesthetic and sleek granite countertops to wood flooring and chrome detailing throughout.

In addition, the revamped units will include energy efficient appliances, a designer kitchen island, tiled bathrooms, and a sliding glass door that opens onto a deck overlooking a sparkling community pool. Residents will experience lower energy costs with LED lighting, thermopane windows, and energy-efficient heating and air.

“We made a conscious decision to invest in our empty storage property and do something purposely different than its surrounding units,” explained Kristi Carlson, President of Northstar Properties. “We had discussed the possibility of the project for 10 years. But, after the second remodel, we decided this was our goal for the next phase of Kickingbird Apartments. It was a real time effort — from start to finish.”

The transformation was inspired by Scandinavian design and reinforcing the sense of community that was an integral part of Kickingbird Apartments. The management team focused on creating open and inviting spaces that reflected the property’s community living.
“We hoped to place a modern spin on a property our locals are already familiar with. We also saw this as an opportunity to transform a space that would grab the attention of Edmond’s incoming residents,” shared Carlson.

The Kickingbird Apartments additions are now available to rent. Residents may choose from 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom options. To learn more about this development, please contact Northstar Properties at (405) 310-6450.

Apartments that cover all the bases for Tinker employees and families.

Choosing the right apartment for you or you and your family is about priorities – what’s high on your list. A quiet area? Good schools? Something near shopping, dining and entertainment? As an OKC “Best of Business” Reader’s Choice Winner in 2016, Northstar Properties provides six area options so you can find your perfect fit.

Start by thinking about this.

Location – not just how close to work – but how close you will be to things that are important to you. Green space, nearby parks and lakes. Family and friends, schools, grocery stores, conveniences.

Consider Oklahoma City’s Quail Springs Mall area and Memorial Road corridor. Lake Hefner, restaurants, incredible shopping, high-tech businesses and Mercy Hospital. With easy access to OKC Thunder games downtown and the whole Bricktown foodie, concert, festival experience, as well as the Oklahoma River. Quail Run at 3264 W. Memorial Road. Stonebrook at 9301 N. MacArthur Blvd. Quail Ridge, 2609 Featherstone Road. Or La Villa, 6305 N. Villa Avenue.

Or Edmond, which has grown from a bedroom community (home of the University of Central Oklahoma), into a mecca for the arts, tree-lined streets, museums, Arcadia Lake and some of the highest-rated schools in the state.

Kickingbird,1900 Kickingbird Road. Kickingbird Hills, 1900 Kickingbird Road.

With four properties in Oklahoma City and two in Edmond, the Northstar team will go above and beyond to address your questions about amenities, storage, security, parking, pets and utilities.

What Do You Look for When Apartment Shopping?

What Do You Look for When Apartment Shopping?

Apartment hunting can be tough – deciding what type of amenities you want to access, determining the ideal location of your complex in relation to the rest of your everyday obligations, and choosing whether to sign with an all-bills-paid lease or to choose to pay your own monthly bills.

There is a mile long list of things to consider when searching for your new home. The NorthStar OKC team has broken down some of the factors we think are important in determining where you should live.

1. Amenities

The amenities that are included in your monthly fee are important when you are comparing different complexes and leases. Is it important for you to have laundry facilities in your unit, or is a community laundry complex all that you need? Would you and your kids like to have access to a swimming pool, tennis court, or volleyball court? Do you have a pet and are looking for a pet-friendly facility?

Each of the NorthStar OKC properties offers different amenities including a clubhouse, saltwater pools, tennis and volleyball courts, balconies and pet-friendly units.

2. Bill-Pay

The idea of “all bills paid” lease and not having to worry about varying monthly utility expenses might sound grand, but does the benefit of not worrying outweigh the potential limitations that come with having complete control over your utilities?

Here at NorthStar OKC, we allow you to take the reigns on your utilities. We do not choose the temperature of your unit nor do we decide when the heater is turned on for the winter – all of those decisions are up to you.

3. Location

The location of a complex is a huge factor in deciding whether it’d be a place you’d be willing to live and commute from. Will you have a long commute during OKC rush hour traffic or will you find a home just a few minutes from your office? Our OKC complexes provide easy access to the city and are centrally located throughout the metroplex.

Conclusion

Whether you are looking for luxurious or recreational amenities, utility control or easy access to the city, NorthStar Properties is the place for you!

Housing Transitions Made Simple at La Villa

Housing Transitions Made Simple at La Villa

The transition period between moving from a home or apartment into a new home can be difficult. Often times, families are left searching for housing for those in between weeks and months while they wait for their new home to be move-in ready. Student Warning: You’re Losing Money by Not Using Two-Bedroom Apartments

For a college student, moving out of their parents’ home and into their own space is both invigorating and nerve-racking, but living with a roommate can put both the student and the parents at ease.

Costs can climb quickly too — and how do you know you’re joining a quality community? Enter the student’s best friend for new housing: the two-bedroom apartment.

A 2015 study revealed that sharing rent with a roommate near Oklahoma City saves each person an average of $249 every month. Over the course of a year, average savings will balloon to a total of $2,988.
That’s a huge win for your wallet! Still, how do you hunt down the right place to call home?
Finding the perfect two-bedroom apartment can be difficult in a college town because each resident wants to have enough space to call their own but may not be willing to sacrifice their monthly budget for this. Savannah Square and Alameda Pointe are great options for students that are looking for a spacious home for an affordable price.

Alameda Pointe residents have access to a saltwater pool and have the luxury of walk-in closets, plus it is only seven minutes away from the University of Oklahoma Norman campus.

Savannah Square residents can enjoy basketball courts, a fitness center, tennis courts, saltwater pools and easy access to public transportation, and they are only about 10 minutes away from the University of Oklahoma Norman campus.

Parents can rest assured that their student is safe because each apartment community includes an alarm system.

Moving to college for the first time should be filled with adventure and excitement and Northstar Properties wants to alleviate the housing stress so that students can enjoy their collegiate experience.

Winter Safety Tips: Round Two

North Star Property Management | Apartments in Norman

Winter Safety Tips: Round Two

Continuing the guidelines we provided in our last blog, we have additional tips for staying safe throughout the winter season. What number did we end on? Four?

Cinco
Ice, ice, baby. Keep in mind, that beyond the common areas of resident traffic, we do not clear ice and snow from our properties. What does that mean for you? Free stuff! Don’t get ahead of yourselves, though. There’s no money or food involved. Since we do not clear ice and snow from our walkways, we are offering free ice melt for you to take care of any areas you see fit. You can pick up some ice melt at the office, or the mailbox kiosks.

Number Six
Frozen pipes? Sorry, Elsa. We’re not letting that go. If you have a faucet that’s running slow or not running at all, then you may likely have a frozen pipe. We’re not saying you should run for your life or anything. However, this is can definitely be labeled as an emergency situation. If you notice any of these signs in your apartment, please contact customer service immediately.

Seventh Heaven
Alas, we have arrived at our last tip for staying safe this winter. Keep in mind that you are responsible for reporting maintenance issues that you see in your unit. These include, but are not limited to heat lamp and furnace malfunctions. As your lease mentions, damages to your unit that result from lack of taking precautions will be the responsibility of the resident. That includes taking care of gas and electric services in the name of the lease holder

Northstar Properties holds no insurable interest in the resident’s belongings, and as always, recommends that the resident secures their own insurance to themselves and their property.
